Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians

Thunder Bay and area is home to six veterinary hospitals, many of which have an immediate need for at least one veterinarian, as well as a veterinary technician to support the work of the doctors.

Veterinarians in Ontario must be licensed by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario, the provincial governing body. If you are an internationally-educated vet, or hold a veterinary licence in a Canadian province outside Ontario, visit CVO online to learn about the licensure process.

Thunder Bay is home to a Canadian Food Inspection Agency office (CFIA), where the federal district veterinary staff are employed.  The Thunder Bay veterinary community meets regularly for continuing education and to promote community health initiatives through the Lakehead Veterinary Association.  Here you will find welcoming colleagues to support your practice and meet other veterinarians from across Northwestern Ontario.

Contact a local veterinary clinic to discuss career options and practice opportunities.
